Pantera was an American heavy metal band formed in Arlington, Texas, in 1981. Originally starting as a glam metal band, Pantera reinvented themselves in the late 1980s, becoming pioneers of groove metal. The band, led by vocalist Phil Anselmo, guitarist Dimebag Darrell, bassist Rex Brown, and drummer Vinnie Paul, gained massive success with albums like Cowboys from Hell (1990) and Vulgar Display of Power (1992). Known for their aggressive sound, powerful riffs, and intense live performances, Pantera became one of the most influential metal bands of the 1990s before disbanding in 2003. Their legacy continues to shape modern heavy music.
