Dropkick Murphys is an American Celtic punk band formed in 1996 in Quincy, Massachusetts. Known for their energetic fusion of traditional Irish music and punk rock, the band features instruments such as bagpipes and mandolin alongside classic rock instrumentation. Their breakout album, Do or Die, released in 1998, showcased their distinctive sound, but it was their 2004 hit “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” that catapulted them to mainstream success, featured in the film The Departed.
