Their debut album Machine became a cult favorite among fans of gothic rock and post-punk. Though the band disbanded in the mid-1980s, they reformed in the 2010s and released new material, continuing to perform live. 1919 is recognized for their contribution to the early post-punk and goth scenes, maintaining a strong underground following to this day.
